This legit sounded exactly like the game... Sorcery!

oh this was GOOD. LIKE. REALLY GOOD. the writing. everything. love this

4 endings already done, just got to figure out how to get the fifth one! This has been a ton of fun!

you have the tone of the narrator down perfectly

I'll have to come back and find the other endings, but I enjoyed this so much! Your Narrator was pitch perfect, felt like I'd stumbled onto a DLC.

I finally figured out how to get all 5 endings, and I have to say? That was EXTREMELY well made. Not only did the Narrator feel in character, but the Console was fascinating in how he differed. Particularly in the ending where you ignore part of his instructions.

Bit of a shame that it won't be expanded further, but it's given me a new appreciation for what you can make HTML do.

I've never play Stanley Porable(I really should one of these days) but have seen some Youtube playthroughs of it & the writing is definitely on par with the original game ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ah one of the people making a Stanley Parable game! (I laughed so hard at that on the discord!) This was really fun and a solid Stanley Experience (tm) Thanks for sharing!

This is awesome! It captures the essence and humor of the Stanley Parable perfectly. It's such a fun way to use the bitsy engine, too. Really great stuff!

This is an excellent play on the themes and writing style of The Stanley Parable. Playing the game, I could hear the narrator's voice in my head, even having not played the original in years! It really takes me back. But it utilizes the Bitsy engine in a fun way that makes it a worthwhile companion to the original game.

If you love Bitsy or the Stanley Parable (or both!), you owe it to yourself to play this game!

You did an amazing job at making this feel like a side story to The Stanley Parable. Keep up the great work!

You matched the humor and feel of the original game so well. This was a blast to play though!

This had me dying of laughter. I am amazed at how you were able to translate The Stanley Parable's humor into Bitsy! Well done!!!

I love this, you super nailed the narrator's voice and overall feel of the game! Feel like I must be missing something though - what's the console? How do you open it?

Ctrl+Shift+I to open the console of the page. You can read the secrets there.

This just... absolutely nails the tone of TSP so, so well. I love this.

You really nailed this right! I also started working on a Bitsy version of the Stanley Parable for the loops game jam, but you already made it so good I don't think I could do any better ^_^
Great job!

Also, I can replicate the bugs mentioned by q1 on a mac, using google chrome.

ah piss if it's mac only then i've really got no idea/way to fix it so that sucks

but you should absolutely keep up doing your version though, two cakes and all that

oh what the hell this is so COOL! this feels like it could be an actual part of the stanley parable series. spoilers in b64...

Extremely happy I managed to nail the style of the original game and that everyone enjoyed it, thank you. Also putting spoilers in different bases is fucking genius and I will be stealing this immediately.

(1 edit)

just read this comment and the one by @GingerBread... i know a bit of javascript. if you want, i could take a look at the code and try to figure out the issue?

The html is free to download, go for it

its not downloadable :(

itch is telling me people are downloading it from this page but i'll be honest i have no idea where from, i've upped it here in the meantime: https://stanwixbuster.co.uk/src/stanleyParable/not_the_stanley_parable.html

Spoilers in b64, i cant believe it! Thats such a good idea! (mine now >:3)

(+3)

ha i got it from a different itch.io comment a long time ago. happy to be passing it on

The text engine's really cool! I love the art, super hard to only use 3 colo(u)rs. It's funny, love the narrator. I understand that your point may have been to not include audio, however, I feel ambient sounds could have raised the experience. Good job!

(+1)

you have no idea how much fun i had writing the narrator

Lol I should try out a narrated game myself too then!

also we got some ambient loops now i've no idea why i didn't do that sooner

Oh okay cool! I'll try out the game  update review!
